RUFORUM Alumni Community

RUFORUM seeks to support universities to address their important but largely unfulfilled role in contributing to the well-being of small-scale farmers and economic development in sub-Saharan Africa. With the view that transforming agriculture in Africa requires innovative scientific research, it aims to more effectively connect the education sector to the challenges facing rural communities.

By supporting universities in building the capacity of young people to transform the agricultural Sector, RUFORUM’s vision looks to: Enable vibrant, transformative universities to catalysing sustainable, inclusive agricultural development to feed and create prosperity for Africa.

To service this vision, RUFORUM has supported and continue to support a number of Undergraduate, Masters, PhD, Post-Doc, and Graduate Teaching Assistantship scholarships at member universities. In addition to the assistance RUFORUM provides training to its beneficiaries around research methods, applying for grants, building an entrepreneurial mindset, leadership training as well as facilitating their access to academic conferences.

RUFORUM is looking to enhance its alumni community to meet the following goals:

  1. Alumni serving as ambassadors and a voice of the RUFORUM vision to ultimately leverage resources for the RUFORUM network
  2. Understand how alumni are contributing to agricultural innovation and development (Learning about RUFORUM's  long term impact)
  3. Learn from alumni how current programming can be improved
  4. Build a network of alumni who can continue to support each other and current beneficiaries in their personal and
    professional development
