Abstract:
This study documents the findings of three case studies of RUFORUM Regional Masters degree programs namely, Research Methods at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Plant Breeding and Seed Systems at Makerere University, Agricultural Information Communication and Management (AICM) at the University of Nairobi, Haramaya University and Egerton University are provided in this report. The study focused on what is in place, demands for the training programs, implementation progress and issues, outputs, outcomes and impacts. In addition, the study was to identify what needs to be done to strengthen the existing programs. The study involved deskwork review and in-depth discussions with Program Coordinators and Chairpersons of the host Departments, Deans of Faculties and Schools, Directors of Council of Graduate Studies and Board of Postgraduate Studies. Data were also collected from students and teaching staff using a semi-structured questionnaires
