A Special Report on Quality Assurance Mechanisms scoping studies in eastern and southern Africa

Abstract:
This is a special report on quality assurance mechanisms (QAMs) scoping studies in eastern and southern Africa that were conducted in 2009. The appointed team focused on Makerere University, Egerton University, University of Malawi and University of Zambia. This work was funded under the EDULINK Quality Assurance project whose implementation was led by RUFORUM in collaboration with several partners. More than ever before, universities are being relied upon as vehicles for the advancement of both national economies and wider society. They do this through the creation of new knowledge and by preparing graduates with appropriate skills and attributes. It is therefore crucial for universities to maintain a focus on keeping graduate capabilities in line with the needs of the labour markets and society.
