Review Meeting of Ongoing RUFORUM Supported Grants at Makerere University

Makerere University is a founder member of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and is one of the main beneficiary of the Competitive Grants System. As part of implementation, RUFORUM provides support to its member universities to undertake projects that are deemed strategic to generate research and development solutions. Through the RUFORUM platform, university research teams are provided with experienced mentors to provide backstopping support and feedback on all aspects for project implementation. It is on this basis that RUFORUM convened a three day meeting with research teams from Makerere University. Research projects that were targeted for support included the Graduate Research Grants awarded in 2014 and 2015 as well as Institutional Strengthening Grants (ISGs) awarded from 2014 to 2016. The meeting focused on assessing the status of implementation of all RUFORUM supported projects in the university; providing opportunity for collaboration across projects; emphasizing the importance of timely completion; and providing support to graduate students to secure timely completion of their training and research programmes.
