Projet pilote d’un cours en visioconférence à l’Université du Burundi mis en perspective pour l’Ecole Doctorale

Abstract:

Nous présentons un rapport du premier cours enseigné en visioconférence en temps réel à l’Université du Burundi. Une coïncidence de circonstances était à l’origine de l’initiative et du choix d’un cours en troisième baccalauréat mathématiques. Nous avons utilisé une plateforme professionnelle de réunion en ligne en combinaison avec un tableau électronique, plus précisément, Skype for Business en combinaison avec un whiteboard. Les deux défis du projet étaient la technologie et la pédagogie. Nous exposons notre expérience avec ce projet – une aventure soutenue – en particulier, nous exposons le contexte, le choix du système technique, l’opération en pratique et l’interaction pédagogique. Puis nous formulons une évaluation de ce projet, et le potentiel prometteur de ce mode innovateur d’enseignement pour l’avenir, en particulier pour l’Ecole Doctorale.

We present a report on the first course taught in videoconference in real time at the University of Burundi. A coincidence of circumstances created the initiative and the choice of a course in the third year bachelor of mathematics. We used a combination of a professional software for videoconference and an electronic blackboard, more precisely a combination of Skype for Business and a whiteboard. The project encountered two challenges: the technology and the pedagogy. We present our experience with this project – a supported adventure. In particular, we present the context, the choice of the technical system, its operation in practice and the pedagogical interaction. Next we discuss an evaluation of the project, and the promising potential of this innovative communication in educational settings, in particular for the doctoral school.
